The Balmain #FW 2015 Women's Wear Collection
Throwback vibe game too strong. Balmain seem to have a recurring pattern of airing their fashion shows during my french classes (regardless french fashion over the literature (in my opinion)). In commemoration of the a late Parisian fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent, Olivier Rousteing channelled his 70s/80s work combining a mixture of "seduction x glamour x vibey colours".
The models wore high waisted flared trousers, for which the 70's look is more than just a trend to Olivier “People think you are doing flared pants, but the reality is for me [the seventies] was the expression of freedom,” he said. “What happened made me realise how important self-expression is.” For Rousteing, that comes with the inclusion of different races on the catwalk.
This show was throwing it back to the era where bigger was always better. The 80's was the beginning of supermodel era, so undoubtedly repping his throwback collection Rousteing brings out members of his #balmainarmy (Jourdan Dunn, Kendall Jenner, Karlie Kloss) and new members to the force Gigi Hadid and Victoria Secret Models.
